The coastal corridor in Estepona will be implemented

The City Council receives authorization to implement a new section of the coastal corridor in the area of Riviera Andaluza. The Consistory works on the bidding of the pedestrian footbridge, which will have a length of almost 150 meters and connect the bridge over the Guadalobon River with the hotel H10 and the beach of El Cristo.

The City Council of Estepona reports that the Andalusian Government has authorized the implementation of a new section of the coastal corridor in the west of the municipality. The new section will run parallel to the Riviera Andaluza urbanization and will have a length of about 150 square meters. The deputy mayor of the Infrastructure and Tourism Development area, Ana Velasco, explained that this new section, whose works will be tendered in the coming weeks, contemplates the creation of a pedestrian path that will join the H10 hotel area and the recently built bridge over the Guadalobon riverbed.

The execution of this footbridge consists of two distinct parts. On the one hand, a printed concrete path of about 130 meters long is planned from the bridge over the Guadalobón stream to the vicinity of the Hornacinos stream. The footbridge will be 3.5 metres wide and will have electric and irrigation channels, as well as luminous beacons. On the other hand, the last meters of the footbridge will be of wood, formed by a parquet of planks until the meeting with the already existing walk in front of the hotel H-10.

This infrastructure will connect the longest bridge on the path – built over the Guadalobón stream – with the H10 hotel promenade and, in turn, with El Cristo beach. The budget for this work amounts to 117,950.61 euros and will be the Commonwealth of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol to bid and finance the work.

In addition to this stretch of coastal corridor, the Consistory is promoting two new paths in the east of the municipality, at the height of El Velerín. On the other hand, the project of the coastal corridor will be extended in the western area with a new section on the bed of Vaquero stream, which is currently in the technical drafting phase.

The coastal corridor project aims to link the more than 22 kilometres of coastline through pedestrian paths with the aim that citizens can walk and practice sport in the open air. This project, which is being extended throughout the municipality, has already been carried out for more than 17 kilometres.

This project allows residents and tourists the possibility of traveling through areas that until now were inaccessible, as well as healthy outdoor activities.
